KANCHANOOR TEMPLE

The famous Kanchanoor Temple is located 18 kms in the Kallanai-Poompuhar Highway and near Thiruvavaduthurai near Kumbakonam in the Thanjavur district. This is one of the five Navagraha Sthalas and is associated with Sukran (Venus). The presiding deity is Lord Karpagambika Samedha

Agneeshwarar. This is also known as Palaasavanam, Brahmapurai and Agnisthalam.

Brahma is believed to have seen a vision of Lord Shiva’s wedding with Goddess Parvathi here. This temple has the distinction of having broken the creator Brahma’s bachelorhood and removed the curse on Chandiran. It’s also believed that Lord Vishnu worshipped Agniswara here to rid Himself of Shukra Dosha. Any obstacles to marriage can be broken here. Fridays are considered very auspicious to this temple and devotees offer white flowers to the Lord.

Praying to Shukra at the shrine bestows long life, wealth, happiness, children, property and good education.

Temple Timings : 07.00 AM to 12.30 PM & 04.00 AM to 08.30 PM
